I had the pleasure of working with Becky for a number of years while she was a secretary for the Macon Piatt Special Education District (MPSED). She was an exceptional staff member. One of her duties was a detailed report, on a monthly basis, to the Illinois State Board of Education concerning special education students. This report covered 3000 special education students with numerous data entry’s for each student. It was called the FACTS report. The Illinois State Board called me one day and said they were giving Becky an award. To my knowledge she is the only one to ever submit a report to ISBE with NO errors. To say the least the Illinois Office of Special Education was impressed as was all of the support staff for MPSED.
Becky was also my tutor in a data management class at Eastern Illinois University. She was quite an expert in the early stages of the Apple Computer and the programs used by the Apple. She showed me some advanced tricks with the Apple that she said my professor would probably not know how to do. When I had to demonstrate how to set up a data management problem I threw in one of Becky’s tricks. My professor was impressed and asked me how I knew how to do that function. Becky got a real good laugh out of that and added that based of the amount of time she spent with me getting me through the course, I should not think of a long term career in computers. Becky was a caring person who I will always remember.
