Robert K. Bandy's Obituary
Robert K. Bandy, 79, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in his home.
Robert was born on September 11, 1936 in Decatur the son of Charles F. and C. Opal (Sunderland) Bandy. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was retired from A.E. Staley’s Manufacturing (Tate& Lyle). When he was younger he enjoyed canoeing and boating. He liked to play Chess with his family and loved dogs. He married Diane Rhodes on June 15, 1959 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Diane; son, Anthony D. Bandy (Kristina) of Decatur; sister, Cledia L. Watrous of Texas; son-in-law, Leon Kallenbach of Blue Mound; grandchildren, Beau B. Kallenbach, Jade B. Kallenbach, Erykah G. Bandy, Clayten E. Bandy, and Adonnis M. Bandy; lifelong friend, Jim Turner (Jane) of Springfield; and his buddy “Duke” his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Robin (Bandy) Kallenbach.
Honoring Robert’s wishes there will be no public services. Memorials are suggested to Macon County Animal Shelter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wade, the DMH Hospice staff, and Jennifer from Hands Across Illinois for all their care of Robert.
