Decatur-Robert A. Mixell, 88, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, formerly of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Robert will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery Decatur, Illinois with Military Honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Macon County Honor Guard. Robert was born January 22, 1922 in Warrensburg, Illinois the son of Albert and Marie (Halick) Mixell. Robert served his country proudly in the U.S Army. He owned his own Waste Disposal business for many years in Decatur, Illinois. Robert was a longtime member of the Faith Presbyterian Church and the Lions Club both in Horseshoe Bend. He married Virginia Hardy on April 5, 1942 she preceded him in death April 5, 2009.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons; Daniel Mixell and wife Wendy and Stephen Mixell and wife Sarah all of Decatur, daughter; Johanna Coverstone and husband James of Decatur, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren..
He was greeted in to Heaven by his wife and parents.
