Robert A. Ploessl's Obituary
Decatur-Robert A. Ploessl, 61, of Decatur, passed away at 6:19 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in the emergency room at Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Robert's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Abbott officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony and military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Homefront. Robert was born August 18, 1948 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Catherine (Oberfoel) Ploessl. He proudly served his country in the USMC during the Vietnam Conflict. He was the owner/operator of Hopper's Shoe Store from 1980-1985. He graduated from Millikin University with a bachelors degree in science. He was employed as a Laboratory Technician with ADM for over eighteen years. Bob was a master woodworker who enjoyed renovating his home and spending time with his family. No one could have had a better husband or dad. He married Lynne White August 4, 1973.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Lynne, his girls; Bridget Ploessl of Decatur, Molly Moore and husband Jason of Decatur, and Robyn Ploessl of Decatur, and brothers; Richard Ploessl of Dubuque, Iowa, Joe Ploessl of Dubuque, Iowa, James Ploessl and wife Judy of Iowa City, Iowa, and Kevin Ploessl and wife Elaine of Dalton City.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents.
