Shawn Allen May DDS's Obituary
Shawn Allen May, DDS, 56, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Peoria, IL.
He was born on February 11, 1969, in Decatur, IL, a son of the late Ronald David May and Margie Kay Ferguson Neeley. He served his country in the United States Army. During the Second Gulf War he was stationed in Germany, where he worked as a dental assistant. Following this experience, he went on to graduate from Marquette University and enjoyed a prolific career as a dentist.
Throughout his life, Shawn found joy in many things. He liked traveling and exploring new places, riding his Harley and talking about his trip out West, practicing his drum solos, and getting dressed up for a night out at a good restaurant. He was always ready for a round of golf, a game of chess, catching a Cubs game, or going a few rounds on the PlayStation. Above all, he enjoyed taking care of the people he loved and finding new ways to have fun with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his grandparents, including his Grandma Susie Ferguson; close friend and father-in-law, David Lane; and beloved dog, Lucy.
Those surviving include: his soulmate, Suberina Lane May; son, Nicholas Allen May and wife Katrina; stepdaughters, Amber Tippit and husband Luke, Ashley Black and wife Shauni, Alexis Well and husband Corey; brothers, Chance May and Ronnie May; sister, Crystal Lutz; grandchildren, Logan, Bronson, Russell, Rooney, Bram, and Hudson; mother-in-law, Cheryl Lane; and stepmother, Betty May.
Shawn’s visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, with a celebration of his life beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, with military honors rendered by the Macon County Honor Guard.
