Gail Ann, Don,Patty, and Family. All who knew and loved your Dad will miss him. Sunday night I finished reading the last chapter of a book on the Battle of Okinawa. I remember the stories my Uncle Gene told me about his experiences at that time. He always ended those stories with a humorous experience. He was a proud Navy man, proud of his ship ( The Fighting I ) and his shipmates. I will remember his stories, the twinkle in his eyes, the grin, and his laugh. To me, he was always young and positive. I have this picture in my mind: Uncle Gene is now sitting at a large round oak table with all those who have gone before him. With a twinkle in his eyes,he looks at Aunt Betty and says; Betty, don't just sit there and giggle, deal the cards ! This is how I will remember your Dad. The Good Lord blessed Gene in many ways and now has welcomed him aboard.
