Paul Jones
I met Tom for the first time, last year, at the Decatur rock show. I was not only fascinated by the pieces he had on display, but by the lovely character and pleasantness he displayed. A few months later, I invited myself into the Wiesner home, and was given a peek into the man, and his rock and mineral passion. I was in awe, not only of his accomplishments, but of his down-to-earth friendliness; here was a man who was recognized as a legend in the field of mineral collecting and lapidary, that was willing to take a number of hours, with me, to share in our mutual interest. With my appreciation and respect for Tom, I can only imagine what his loss means to his family members. To them, I say, take comfort in knowing that Tom was an exceptional man, had positively impacted scores of other people, and will not be forgotten by those of us who met him.Paul JonesBloomington, IL
