Thomas E. Wiesner's Obituary
Thomas E. Wiesner, 84, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2015, at Heartland Health Care of Decatur.
Thomas was born March 2, 1931 in Hammond, IN, the son of Edwin Wiesner and Rose May (Henniger) Floyd. Thomas proudly served for his country in the USAF from 1951-1955. He was a jet mechanic who worked on fighter jets during the Korean War. After the war, Thomas worked at Caterpillar for 31 years. He traveled around and sold minerals for 24 years, and he was a member of the Gem and Minerals Club of Decatur. Thomas made belt buckles, loved fishing with his kids and grandchildren, hunted arrowheads, and was an avid NASCAR fan and collector. Thomas married Jeanette Reason on January 19, 1952 in Amarillo, TX. They shared 63 wonderful years together. He will be missed.
Thomas leaves behind his wife, Jeanette; sons, Tony (Trish) Wiesner of Decatur; Larry (Linda) Wiesner of Mt. Zion; Edwin Wiesner of Colorado; brothers, Steven (Grace) Floyd of Decatur; Walt Floyd of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Rosemary Floyd of Ottawa, IL; Phyllis Mullins of Titusville, FL; Ruth Anderson of Anderson, MO; Doris (Preston) Lester of Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer Wiesner, Christopher Wiesner, Angie Hufford, Amy Ramos; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services to celebrate the life of Thomas will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery following funeral service with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials in memory of Thomas may be made to the Gem and Mineral Club of Decatur.
