One of the most vivid memories I have of my favorite uncle is when Jackie and I had been down to the creek and I ended up with a leech wrapped around my ankle. I'm sure I went screaming all the way through the pasture back to the house. Wilber came out, took a look, went in the house, and came back with a salt shaker. After dousing the leech, he ground it into the concrete. I was one grateful little kid! Nothing ever got him riled up; he just took every day and everything as it came and treated everyone with kindness and patience. I will miss him dearly.Gail
