William J Cayton's Obituary
William J. Cayton, 83, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born August 13, 1937, in West Lebanon, IN to Joseph and Flora Jean (Shattell) Cayton. He proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. He married Gertrude Huff on March 29, 1996 in Bloomington, IL. Bill was very involved in the community including, DAV, Elks, Moose, Shriners, Mason’s and American Legion. He was an avid golfer and a member of Big Dummy Golf League. Bill retired a general manager from Air Float Corp and for many years enjoyed the Illinois winters in South Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Gertrude; his two sons, Tim Cayton, Troy (Theresa) Cayton; his daughter, Tracie (Ed) Massar; two step-sons, Steven (Michelle) Huff and Cliff (Darla)Huff; one step-daughter, Heidi (Danny) Rea; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandy Reynolds; and his beloved horse, Little Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Helen and one son, in infancy, Billy Joe Cayton.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Bill Cayton will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday before the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be in West Lebanon Cemetery in West Lebanon, IN following the service.
